Hydrovolve Products Case Study(HYDROVOLVE HAMMER)

HYDROVOLVE HAMMER
Universal Stuck Object Extraction System

Superior alternative to traditional Jars in the BHA for preventing and remedying stuck-pipe incidents

Challenges

  • Long BHA, requires a lot amount of HWDP.
  • Limited to one impact per 10 mins – 6 impacts per hour.
  • Stuck pipe incident, hence more trip time.
  • Eliminate derrick inspection.

Solution

  • Using rotation and circulation – better wellbore condition.
  • Powered by INFINITY – hydraulic powered piston downhole engine.
  • No HWDP – no large swab or surge effect.
  • No setting down to re-cock – continuous upward operation.
  • Shorter and lighter BHA – reduced the risk for stuck pipe incidents.
  • No recoil – kind to surface equipment.
  • Versatile operations – ideal for HWU & rig.

Results

  • Up to 3000 times more extraction power than standard jars evidenced.
  • Derrick inspection is NOT required. Saving 6 hours rig time.
  • Recovered stuck and fully packed-off BHA in two successive wells.
  • Recovered stuck BHA both times within 3 minutes of impacting versus 6 days of standard jarring. – saving  5 days rig time
  • 30% weight reduction over standard jar with HWDP / accelerator.
  • Recorded > 270 circulating hours.
  • Recorded > 167 on bottom drilling hours.
  • Drilling operations continued w/o POOH, saving 2 days rig time.

The Challenges

Our clients mostly faced common challenges in drilling  when using standard Jars. Among the well-known challenge is inability to control its impact and power at will. Standard jars fully dependance on jar weight to power its anvil and hammer for force limits the option for users. In the case when users need more power for  the Jars, they will have to add more HWDP hence, by the adding the length of BHA assembly. This will increase the risk of stuck pipe incident, cause more manpower required on rig floors and put other drilling equipment at risk and ultimately could lead to unsafe conditions on the rig floors. The cost for the operation will also increase due to increase in manpower, protection for rig equipment and more trip time required in case of stuck-pipe incidents.
