HYDROVOLVE QUAKE
Breaking the cement of conventional P&A

Ultimate breaking the mould of conventional P&A using rapid acting cement and solids buster.

  • High Frequency radial impulse to break bonds, mobilize solids, cleanse wellbore.
  • Can be deployed as standalone device or tandem assembly.
  • Operatable from surface using standard drilling console. – able to activate at will.
  • Very strong bond breaking power with ultra low torque.


Results

 

  • Casing POOH initial attempt is 350Klbs – With QUAKE is 100Klbs. Reduced pulling force proven.
  • Debris/cement found consistent in size at shaker – active wellbore clean-up.
  • Easy to operate remotely by user with technical support via online – no specialist required onboard.
  • Max Impact frequency 32Hz, 60rpm, 1 – 2K lbsft Operating Torque. –  Strong radial power with low torque proven.
  • 5ft/minute Tripping Speed while active.


The Overview

 

Time against cost is one of the most common challenges in Plug & Abandonment (P&A) which consist of Cut & Pull, Casing Retrieval, Kill Well, and Cementing. On average, only a relatively short casing can be successfully retrieved against multiple runs required for this operation. The effectiveness of P&A is measured by how quickly and effective is to break the bond between casing and material present in the casing annulus  before cutting the casing section with tubular cutter and pulling it out of the well back to surface using casing spear. This can lead to longer rig time to accommodate the operation.

In one of the recent wells where we deployed QUAKE had records of multiple failed Cut & Pull attempts to before the user use this tool. The VDL logging and Ops review evidenced good quality cement and settled solids back to surface. The objective was to recover 7” 29lb/ft  casing to enable suspension operations pre-sidetrack.
